How to Measure Your Windows Perfectly
Drilling vs. No-Drilling: How to Measure Your Windows Perfectly
Choosing the right mounting method for your pleated blinds is just as important as picking the perfect colour. Whether you live in a rental property and need a damage-free solution or you are looking for a permanent, sleek installation, Concept Crystal has you covered.
However, the way you measure your window changes depending on your choice. Here is everything you need to know about measuring for custom-size pleated blinds based on the installation method.
Option 1: No-Drilling Installation (Non-Invasive)
Ideal for renters or those who want a quick, tool-free setup. This method uses adjustable hooks or adhesive fixings.
How to measure:
-
Width: Measure the width of the glass pane itself. To ensure total privacy and minimize light gaps, we recommend adding 2 to 4 cm to this measurement (ensuring the fabric overlaps the frame slightly).
-
Pro-Tip: Make sure the extra width doesn't interfere with your window handle!
-
-
Height: Measure the entire window structure, including the upper and lower parts of the window frame. This ensures the blind covers the full height of the opening.

Option 2: Installation With Drilling (Invasive)
Perfect for a minimalist, integrated look. This method securely attaches the blinds directly to the window frame or glazing beads using small screws.
How to measure:
-
Width: Measure the width of the glass pane inside the window frame. Unlike the no-drill method, you should not add extra centimeters here. The blind needs to fit precisely within the available space.
-
Note: Our customizer for aluminum profiles accounts for the side guides to ensure a smooth glide.
-
-
Height: Measure the height of the glass pane from the top edge to the bottom edge of the inner frame (glazing bead).
Which Method is Right for You?
-
Choose No-Drilling if: You want to avoid permanent marks, you are a tenant, or you want the simplest DIY process.
-
Choose With Drilling if: You want the blinds to be as "invisible" as possible when retracted or you have windows that do not open.
Perfect Fit Guarantee
Regardless of the method you choose, providing exact millimeters is the key. If you are unsure, you can always select a base size and use our "Extra width of 5 mm" option in the configurator for that ultra-precise fit.
